ReggaeFest '007 Opening Night Gala Fundraiser to spark Events' Round Town
Get ready to Bond with Reggae Roots as the Calgary Reggae Festival Society presents REGGAELA! an opening night Gala Fundraiser to kick off ReggaeFest '007. An evening of glamour, glitz and everything Bond, REGGAELA! is sure to entice Reggae lovers.
Leo Cripps, producer for ReggaeFest '007 says "We wanted to stage a Reggae event that was outside of the ordinary, where folks could get dressed up, enjoy a variety of different foods and be entertained by some dynamic performers."
On Saturday, August 11 the Martha Cohen Theatre Lobby (215 - 8 Avenue SE) will be transformed into a Gala affair unlike no other. Featuring Live Music, Dancers, DJ, Silent Auction, and Mock Casino, the evening will include hot eats and cool drinks with a spark of Reggae flavour. Come dressed to impress as you dance the night away to some of your favourite Reggae riddims.
One of the highlights of the evening is the Silent Auction featuring extravagant prizes. 50% of the Silent Auction proceeds will be donated to CUSO. CUSO brings Canadians and the world together to address poverty, human rights issues, HIV/AIDS, inequality, cultural loss and environmental degradation. CUSO is a Canadian organization which supports alliances for global social justice. CUSO works with people striving for freedom, gender and racial equality, self- determination and cultural survival. ReggaeFest '007 is excited to support this organization.
"CUSO is one organization that exemplifies the spirit of Reggae Culture" says Cripps.
"They not only talk the talk but they also walk the walk. In any developing country you will find at least one CUSO representative working alongside locals, helping them to make a better world."
REGGAELA! is an 18+ event and tickets are $40.00 in advance, $35.00 for CRFS members and can be purchased online at www.ticketweb.ca. Doors open at 6:30 pm. More information on REGGAELA! and other Events 'Round Town can be found at
